Attack of two sites in Saudi Arabia

Aramco, after suffering in 2012 one of the worst cyberattacks in history, with tens of thousands of infected computers, the Saudi oil giant was targeted Saturday, September 14, by an attack that, if the use of drones is confirmed, will probably be the most violent conducted so far by this type of device.

The raid partially destroyed two crucial sites at Khurais and Abqaiq (the world's largest crude oil processing plant), cutting Aramco's production by 50%, or about 5% of world oil production! The world community condemned these attacks whose consequences on the regional political situation can be extremely serious as well as the repercussions on the world economy.

The model of drones used against Saudi sites has not yet been confirmed. Some experts even believe that the attack was conducted using missiles and not drones.

The investigation could provide more information, especially if debris are found.

Nevertheless, the problem of surveillance via satellites is once again the challenge of these actions and should be considered as a protection against this new way of doing war.

Our security experts, including General Didier L’Hôte, consider the actions to be carried out as a priority for international security as underlined by H.E Christophe Giovannetti, Vice President of OMECA.
